Greetings everyone!

MinePile is undergoing some changes for upcoming content releases! This includes a new name and look! I have spent several hours porting and getting the website ready on the new domain! From here on out we will be known as the ForgeStorm community!

The next few days I will finish the migration with a complete forum node and thread clean up. Some forums will be moved around and some new ones will be made!

Some issues from the server migration:
  • Some image links may not work.
  • Avatars have been reset.
    • New default avatars have been added to "fix" this.

I am back with a little bit of news. As the title states, we are currently looking for some new staff members! Below is a detailed list of positions we would like to fill. Please remember that the MinePile team is a group of volunteers and we take pride in our work. Serious applicants only, please.

Game Designer
The game designer is the most powerful position we are offering. Why is it the most powerful position? Game designer will give you the ability to personally shape and create a network. The actions of the Game Designer will directly influence how the games are designed and implemented.

Job details:
  • Create/Manage excel, word, and other documentation related to the planning and creation of all network services.
  • Design and document new features.
  • Serve as a strong and positive influence for the creation of the service.
Applicant requirements:
  • Extensive knowledge on the subject of game design. There are many books on the subject.
  • Logical understanding on how components should work in a game.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Minecraft game and its mechanics.
  • Very organized individual.
  • Creative!
  • Microphone and Skype.
  • No programming experience required.

Forum Manager
The forum manager is an organized and talented individual who will assist in the organization of all things forum related.

Job details:
  • Create, organize, and manage forum nodes.
  • Help improve the overall experience and quality of the forum.
Applicant requirements:
  • Extensive knowledge of XenForo community software.
  • Extensive knowledge of how to use other XenForo plugins.
  • Very organized individual.
  • Creative!
  • Microphone and Skype.
  • No programming experienced required.

Event Organizer
The event organizer, is a person who will help with creating, planning and advertising special events for the MinePile community.

Job details:
  • Create, plan, organize, and run events for the MinePile network.
  • Promote/advertise these events on other websites.
  • Bring fun and exciting things to the community!
Applicant requirements:
  • Creative and fun person!
  • Easy ability to make new friends.
  • Organized and well spoken.

Asset Builder
An asset builder is an individual who builds different things for the server to use. This is an extremely important position. One of the most important positions available. Every player that joins the server will see your creations. Since first impressions are everything, your creations will be held to a very strict level of quality. As an asset builder, you may have to revision or redo parts of your content.

Job details:
  • Create new assets in our creative world (buildings, floral, etc)
  • Organize and help manage the asset world.
Applicant requirements:
  • Creative!
  • Lots of experience building and learning new build styles.
  • A understanding of depth, detail, and planning.

Terrain Artist
The terrain artist is an individual who will assets in creating hand crafted worlds from scratch. This is an extremely important job! A terrain artist literally shapes the world the player will play through and experience. Your creations will be what every player see's first.

Job details:
  • Create realistic worlds and realistic terrain from scratch.
  • Design and implement new styles to create more dynamic landscapes.
  • Use tools such as WorldPainter, WorldMachine, WorldEdit, VoxelSniper, and more.
Applicant requirements:
  • Creative!
  • Organized!
  • Extensive knowledge of depth, detail, and design.
  • Understanding of real world terrain mechanics.
  • Understanding of how real world terrain is formed.
  • Experience with WorldPainter, WorldMachine, WorldEdit, VoxelSniper, and others.

Building Laborer
A building laborer may not be a skilled builder, but they are dedicated team players who can help various elements of building. These things might including copy/pasting items from the asset world to the build world. This might include placing grass, destroying blocks, adding stuff, and much more.

Job details:
  • Assist world artists and asset builders in the creation of unique worlds and play areas.
  • Perform various tasks as needed by the build team leader.
  • Use WorldEdit to copy and paste assets as needed.
Job requirements:
  • Works well with others.
  • Follows tasks given to them.
  • Works quickly to resolve issues.
  • Can put up with slightly repetitive tasks.

Hello everyone!

We experienced a bit of downtime due to a error when upgrading the website. I was able to fully recover the website database, after an abrupt shutdown of the server during the upgrading process. :rage: At this time, all avatars are lost. Because of this annoyance, I have allowed the upload of custom avatars. Enjoy! :D

Also I have added about 90 smilies so you can express yourself's with those if you choose too!

Hello everyone,

I would like to take the time to introduce a few new staff members to the forums and community!

Moderators:

First, I would like to start of by introducing someone who has been here for awhile. @hellspawn3200 was promoted to a moderator some time back. He has been an active member of the forums, helped build on the server, and has provided lots of feedback. Thanks for all your help!

Programmers:

@codeman has joined the team. Codeman is a programmer that has joined us and will be helping implement features and fix bugs. He has already made some useful utilities for us and all the code looks very professional. Thanks @codeman!

I would like to introduce @hposej who has been a long time builder. He has recently teamed up with us in an effort to help code the plugins. He'll continue to work along side us as the project progresses. Hposej is also the build team leader. He is in charge of helping manage builders and builds.

I would also like to thank a few people who have been helping produce custom models and other content for the server.

@CaveyJ for helping with making models and textures. He constantly helps manage and keep an eye on things when I am busy. I appreciate your support.

@Cyberlogical for helping with models and textures. She has made some creative and unique things for you all to enjoy on the server. She continues to provide support and her help is greatly appreciated! She also taught me a few things about Africa and Australia which was pretty cool!

@cloudfr for helping with the build process on the hub and our other worlds. Your custom hand made terrain is the best!

Server Progress:
Updates on the server are coming soon! A beta release is coming soon too! We are all super excited about bringing you a fun game mode. The name and type of game mode will be announced soon!

Also please take a moment and thank these individuals! They have contributed a lot and without them the project would take even longer! Thanks ladies and gents!

Hello again everyone,

I would like to take a moment and talk about the future of our network. As you all know we have been hard at work, pumping out features and builds almost every week, with little time off. We have noticed during this time, that there is a larger influx in RPG related projects throughout the entire Minecraft community, and we welcome the challenge and competition.

Throughout the past few years a few friends and I always wanted to start a Minecraft server. We custom programmed 14 mini-games, built 14 unique maps, and things just kind of tapered off because of the amount of competition. It was hard to keep people on the server for just 14 mini-games, when so many other mini-game servers existed. During this time we created some content that we thought would be fun for players and keep them on the server longer as the content could be played solo.

During a computer upgrade I came across all this old content and ideas that we had. In an effort to be original I have decided to release another game before the large Fantasy RPG. There are several reasons for this, including the map for this game already being finished. Now you may be wondering what the map is and if development will stop on the RPG code! Well let me answer these questions for you. To be clear, RPG plugin development will not stop. It is extremely fun making the plugin and I have learned a lot about the Bukkit/Spigot API. I am confident we can create anything any other major network can make. The side project will implement the RPG plugin and code (with slight modifications) to bring you an old game-mode that has been completely revamped and reshaped. No other server will have the features of this game. The level of detail on this map is also completely unmatched by any server within the same game genera. We look forward to bringing you an unappalled RPG experience on this revamped game-mode.

Now that I have gotten that off my chest I am sure the next big question is, “what is this game-mode?” Well I am not going to release the information for that to the public yet but just know that is coming in the future.

Also I should note that we will be removing some beta-testers due to not having any activity on the forums or server. This will free up spots for future testers. If you have been active and you make posts, then you have nothing to worry about, your rank will not be removed.

This weekend we will be releasing the new Hub with a custom plugins, with open and free access to a creative build server where anyone can contribute to the success of MinePile. This is just a small start to a network that is much larger and more detailed project.

All in all, we have some big things planned for this project and we can’t wait to see you guys and gals in game! It has been an absolute pleasure working with all of you. During this experience I have learned a lot about creating a community, developing a home-grown project, and also a lot about myself. I look forward to the future and know we will not stop! We are going straight to the top, even if it’s a slow climb, I am confident all of our skills combined will help turn something small into something large and desirable!
It's that time again, where I list what I am working on for the server!

Here are this week's current updates. :cool:

New features:
  • World/block protection has been removed from the plugin and is now relying on WorldGuard plugin.
  • Soulbound items will now be deleted if they are dropped.
  • Added ability to switch characters in the players Game Menu (compass).
  • Replaced /help with a nicely formatted book of information, including commands.
  • Added hearthstone so players can teleport back to their last home location.
  • Added guild creation.
  • Added ability to set guild tag.
  • Added guild tag to player messages in chat.
Changes:
  • Coming soon.
Bugs Fixed:
  • Fixed the compass menu from duplicating when a drop is attempted.
  • Fixed being able to put the compass menu into all inventories.
  • Fixed being able to move all types of items into inventory menus.

NOTE:
The changes listed above are not final. This change log will not be considered to be complete until 10/18/2015. At that time, a new thread will be created showcasing next weeks new updates. The updates published above will not be uploaded onto the online test server until about Sunday afternoon.
Here has what has been done so far this week:

New Features:
  • Added Character selection/creation.
  • Added information about character classes.
  • Added real bank chests.
  • Added real "local" chat. If you are in the local chat channel, anyone within 20 blocks of you, will get your message.
  • Players get armor and a weapon with new characters.
Changes:
  • Drastically improved the cosmetic look of armor and weapons metadata stats/attributes.
  • Completely rewrote the armor and weapon drop system to be more "Blizzard" like.
  • Changed the attributes for armor, weapons, and how players work.
  • Changed the drops in loot chests to include truly random armor and weapons with random attributes.
  • Changed the way drops appear in loot chests, they will now be in random spots.
  • Various performance enhancements.
  • Items can be soulbound, which means they can not be traded or sold to players. However they can be sold to merchant npc's for a small reward.
Bug Fixes
  • Fixed a bug that would prevent a characters level from being restored when loaded.
  • Fixed a bug that would prevent a characters experience points from being restored when loaded.
I would like to thank @Bobby and @Kaliven for helping me figure out the math behind the new attribute system. Currently it will need a lot of play testing, but it is better now, than it was before!

Note: This change-log is not complete! More updates will be added to this list before the week is over, so be sure to check back soon! These updates will be applied to the player test server once the week is over. Be sure to look for bugs and report them! :)

Hello everyone!

It's that time again where we talk about whats going on with the project! Today I put in about 12 hours coding to implement the ability to have multiple characters in-game! Right now this is not completely finished. But it is far enough along that people can demo it!

Warning! Your items will not be saved when you log out. This and separate inventories will be done shortly.

In order to get it where it is now, I had to edit 27 different files with 2,020 code additions and 1,335 code deletions. Took lots of time and debugging and still has a long way to go. But we will get there!

EDIT: We now have separate inventories working. This still needs a lot of testing. If you experience items being lost or the stats on the item not looking correctly, please submit a bug report.

EDIT 2: Now supporting multiple banks per character!
